The NFL has released the preseason schedule and the Lions, as expected, won’t have any national televised games. Here’s their schedule:
Week 1 Atlanta Falcons
Week 2 @ Cleveland Browns
Week 3 Indianapolis Colts
Week 4 @ Buffalo Bills
The dates and times are to be determined and will be released at a later time.

There are a lot of polls out there now on who the Lions should take at 1-1. A lot of the comments I see around are ‘don’t take Stafford’ or ‘a QB at 1-1 is a must’ or ‘we have to draft an offensive tackle’. There are some good conversations but no one has really [...]
Rev Spielman over at The Church of Schwartz continues his Q&A with several of the internet’s top Lions bloggers. It is, as usual, a good read. Go check it out. Here’s the questions for this week and my responses, which are kind of short and to the point as I’ve had an extremely busy week.
1. [...]
Mel Kiper says that the Detroit Lions have no choice but to take Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford at 1-1 in this years draft. Knowing that, the Lions must NOT take Stafford. Kiper doesn’t know his butt from a hole in the ground and is only on the Stafford bandwagon because he liked him coming out [...]
First this morning I would like to wish my youngest daughter, Erin, a happy 12th birthday. Have a great day, Red.
Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said yesterday that CB Eric King and OG Daniel Loper could be starters with the Detroit Lions this season. Both players were in Tennessee last year where Schwartz was the [...]

The new Lions logo and colors have leaked out, according to an article by Philip Zaroo on MLive.
It looks pretty sweet to me. I really like the updated Bubbles and the fact they’ve kept the Honolulu Blue and Silver. Great job Lions.

The Lions only received 1 compensatory pick in this years draft. It’s #256, the [...]
The Detroit Lions have started negotiating with their top options for the number 1 pick in this years draft.
“We have to have robust dialogue with the agents representing the players that we’re interested in,” president Tom Lewand said Sunday at the NFL owners’ meetings. “We’ve started that process. We have to have that. We’ve made [...]
The Detroit Lions are going to retire defensive lineman Corey Smiths #93 for the 2009 season in his memory. Smith disappeared in the gulf of Mexico after a boat he was fishing on capsized in high seas. The decision was announced today at his memorial service by Galen Duncan, the Lions’ senior director of player [...]

1. Julian Peterson Trade: Yay, Nay or Meh?
Motown Madmen: Very good trade, even better if they take [...]
Georgia held their pro day yesterday and all 31 teams were in attendance to watch quarterback Matthew Stafford go through his workout. The Lions had 5 representatives, including Martin Mayhew.
Stafford threw 50 passes in all, showcasing every route NFL teams typically hope to see. Interestingly, he put the passing script together, eschewing preparation that is [...]
The Lions had two prospective draft choices in on Wednesday for a visit – Boston College defensive tackle B.J. Raji and Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew.
Raji is a longshot for the Lions unless they trade up or down with 1-1 or 1-20. I don’t think he’s 1st pick material. Pettigrew may be available at [...]
The Detroit Lions have missed out on free agent TE LJ Smith. Smith signed yesterday with the Baltimore Ravens. I though LJ would have been an excellent addition, along with Mondays signing of Will Heller, to bolster a weak TE corps in Detroit.
Martin Mayhew says Aaron Curry could be the Lions starting MLB from day [...]
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all you Detroit Lions fans out there. Have a nice, thick, pint of God’s own and enjoy your day.
The Detroit Lions signed free agent tight end and former Seattle Seahawk, Will Heller. Heller is one of the better blocking tight ends in the NFL and will be used primarily in [...]
Along with everyone else, I thought I’d run a NCAA bracket pool on CBSSportsline.com

UPDATE: Cutler did not show up for the voluntary team meeting this morning. According to a poll on the Denver Post site, out of 950 votes, 45% believe the Broncos should trade Cutler. Come on Lions, go get him!
Disgruntled Denver Broncos quarterback, Jay Cutler, has put his house, as well as a house he co-owns [...]
The Detroit Lions have traded defensive tackle Cory Redding and a 5th round pick in this years draft to the Seattle Seahawks for Pro-Bowl linebacker, and beast, Julian Peterson. Wow. This one takes me completely by surprise but I think it’s fantastic move. Peterson is an excellent defensive weapon who has the ability to pile [...]
Aaron Curry is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions this coming Sunday. Anyone who has read this blog or my posts over at Pride of Detroit know that I’m a big Curry fan and that I sincerely hope he goes to Detroit at 1-1. The kid is big, fast and a playmaker. He is exactly [...]
Rev Spielman over at The Church of Schwartz continues his Q&A with several of the internet’s top Lions bloggers. It is, as usual, a good read. Go check it out. Here’s the questions for this week and my responses.
Who’s the one remaining free agent you’d like to see the Lions go after?
Motown Madmen: How about [...]

Former Buffalo Bills free agent linebacker Angelo Crowell is visiting the Detroit Lions today. Crowell was a starter for 5 years with the Bills but was out all last year with a knee injury.
The Lions defensive backs coach Tim Walton and assistant secondary coach Daron Roberts were in attendance yesterday for Western Michigan’s pro day [...]

For the second straight day, a possible first round pick has come to visit with the Detroit Lions. Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford was in today meeting with coaches and front office personnel. As everyone knows, I’ve not been to enthusiastic about taking Stafford at 1-1. I believe that Curry, J Smith or Monroe would help [...]
